The booming town of Te Kauwhata

Nestled in the Waikato is a small town named Te Kauwhata, 80 kms from Auckland’s CBD, and 50km out of Hamilton. With a current population of about 1,600, the town is expected to grow immensely with the new developments happening in the area.

Aucklander’s have been making the move, relocating to Te Kauwhata by snapping up the new and affordable homes for a more peaceful lifestyle.

There have been a number of construction companies securing sections in the area, building affordable homes for city-dwellers. Such developments have worked well in bringing more people to live in Te Kauwhata. A number of sections on Blunt Road were sold out to Aucklander’s within three months!

Most of these new Te Kauwhata residents were either semi-retired, or were willing to make the city commute for work, which is just over a 1 hour drive.

It’s a town that’s perfectly situated around some great locations - only 10 minutes from Hampton Downs, half an hour from the quaint town of Thames, and an hour west of Coromandel.

People are loving their new lifestyles in Te Kauwhata, with young families enjoying bringing up their children in such an inclusive and friendly atmosphere. Retirees are savouring their new peaceful lifestyle, and Auckland workers are appreciating the balance between rural and city life, despite the longer commute.

With new homes in Te Kauwhata selling for around $600,000, it’s an affordable and peaceful place to live. Other rural towns like Pokeno have also been on the come up, with Aucklander’s opting to leave the big city for a quieter lifestyle.
